The Importance of Rules
Imagine if anyone could walk into our property and take whatever they wanted; imagine if everyone had the freedom to drive on which ever side of the road they wanted; imagine if everyone had the freedom to open up a stall where ever they wanted…. yes it would be nice in a certain way to be free but unfortunately we humans have a complex social behavior and as such this freedom would only end up in fights and chaos.
So WE NEED RULES in order for society to function smoothly. But why, in todays times, we are forced to obey some rules and on the other hand we are allowed to, and sometimes even encouraged to disobey, sometimes age old, fundamental, very important social rules.
A rule thats been around forever and in every society and in every religion, is that, if a man and a woman want to have a relationship then they must get married. Marriage is a contract which helps people to live better lives and solves a whole lot of issues. A stable family is the best thing that we could give our newborn children and this alone is more than sufficient to entrench marriage as a rule throughout the world.
Sadly people and governments of the world no longer enforce marriage but instead encourage people to just shack up or just sleep around with whoever they want. This is what the media promotes; fornication, lewd behaviour and even adultry and because of this, people no longer take marriage seriously.
Talking of adultry; At one time, even in a country like America, it was a crime to commit adultery, but today the adulterer can boast about his conquests and makes himself out to be a hero. We encourage cheating. Marriage is supposed to be a solemn contract between a husband and a wife with our Creator as witness and one of the conditions is to be faithful to each other. People’s hearts are involved, children’s emotional well-being is involved and by encouraging shacking up the basic building block of society, is being shattered. Growing up in a broken or a non-existent family is traumatic for children. This is no light matter and adultry is a serious offence in every society and in every religion in the past.
How ridiculous this modern western way is. When a woman dresses up and behaves provocatively then she is arousing the men that she passes by, sort of taunting them; see what I got but you cannot have it. Is this fair? This is behaving childishly and causing major problems in society. It is encourages rape, adultry and fornication. Yes it feels ‘hip’ and ‘cool’ to be ‘modern’ when you are young but when you get old you will get to pay the price. In the past, not only in Muslim countries, but even non Muslim countries, had laws in place to ensure that women dressed properly.
On the contrary, today, instead of enforcing such laws of modesty and morality, democratic/western countries actually take steps against individuals and countries that try to maintain modesty/morality. To cite a recent case as an example: western countries have instigated rioting in Iran and have placed sanctions against the Morality Police of Iran, and made such a big splash about the death of one very sick woman who died in detention. Another example: the headscarf and the wearing of religious symbols to work is actually banned in France. While we have the morality police in Iran that strive to make sure people dress properly, we have the total opposite in France, the Burqini police who are tasked with making sure that no one wears a modest burqini to swim.
At one time possessing pornographic material was a criminal offence but today all sorts of pornographic material is freely avaiable at the touch of a button. Some weird pervert or the other, by means of video could be teaching our children. Why are there no rules to ban such material on the Internet.
Then religion teaches us to have control and not to be extravagant or to hoard. Contentment, which brings about peace, can never be achieved by getting more and more wealth but it is acheived by learning to do with what we have. Bottom line, wealth cannot give us happiness. The governments of the world are encouraging people to be materialistic and the end result is that there is a huge gap between the ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’
What comes through from all of this is that there is no longer that barrier set up by governments that separates the good from bad. Not only that, western governments are now even forcing wrong down peoples throats. Just look at how they are handling this woke, queer stuff. They are sanctioning countries that are trying to criminalise LGBTQ. It’s even worse than this; they are teaching people to be proud of their wrong doings; pride month. They are destroying people’s inner consciousness.
The most important thing about all of this, is that, these age old rules are not just any rules formulated by just anyone but these are rules set down by our all wise Creator who knows us best. They might not look too glitzy from the outside but they are guaranteed to bring us contentment and peace in the long run.
As Muslims, we need to catch a wake up call. We are not only allowing the rot into our families, but we are also encouraging and promoting this western way. And, O yes, we are paying or going to pay the price and shed tears of blood in old age. This is Allahs promise.
