The Family Of Muhammad (SAW), the “Ahlul Baith” has played and will always play an important role in Islam.
With the name of Allah most Beneficient ever Merciful.
There are two similar hadith in Sahih Muslim. One states that the Prophet ﷺ has said that he leaves two things: “The Holy Quran and MY TRADITIONS (hadith)”. The other states: “The Holy Quran and MY FAMILY”
Both these Hadith should not be taken as conflicting or we should not think that we need to make a choice as to follow one and leave the other out.
The first one, following the Prophet Salallahu Alayhe Wasallam’s teachings is something that we Muslims automatically do. In practicing our religion, both the Quran & hadith are in essence one. The Holy Quran instructs us to pray and the way we pray is not detailed out in the Holy Quraan but we learn this from the Traditions of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. So we automatically have to follow his teachings.
The family of the Holy Prophet ﷺ on the other hand is different. Following them is not so much about pursuing outer actions, like the way we drink water, but it is about the deeper teachings (Tarika) of Islam.
So it’s something we have to search for and nuture within us.
For us today, it is easy to see the important role that the family of Muhammad Salallahu Alayhe Wasallam has played in Islam. Over time, the family of the Holy Prophet Muhammad Salallahu Alayhe Wasallam has played an outstanding role in Islam. So outstanding that it plays a very important part in the continuation and preservation of Islam to this day and in future. Insha-Allah.
As an example, the deeper teachings of Islam would not have survived without the stand of Hazrath Imaam Hussein (AS).
In talking about his family, the Prophet Muhammad Salallahu Alayhe Wasallam has said, “The matter (life) will not end, until it is passed by twelve Caliphs“. In his description of the 12th Imaam, he makes mention of him as him being from his family.
At this point we need to understand that religion throughout time has been conveyed and protected by Allah’s Chosen Ones. Surah Al Fatiha also teaches us to follow such current people (AuliaAllah). Such people teach the deeper teachings of Islam.
Most of the Aulia Allah, who teach spirituality, are from the Family of the Holy Prophet ﷺ and are therefore always keeping the true spirit of Islam alive. They will also play an important role in future. The 12th Imaam from the family of Muhammad ﷺ, Imaam Mahdi (AS) will be the end of Dajjal and the revival of Islam.
Our Pir O Murshid once asked: Does a lion give birth to kittens?, bringing out the fact that the progeny of the Prophet Muhammad Salallahu Alayhe Wasallam is different.
The Holy Prophet’s ﷺ progeny is special and why should it not be because the Prophet ﷺ is after all, Allah’s final Prophet and beloved. If we respect the Holy Prophet ﷺ then we should respect his blood.
Peace and blessings be upon Muhammad Sallallahu Allayhi Wasallam.
