Put to Shame
How does it feel when we realise that we were scammed or tricked of our money… It’s very upsetting to be duped, to be made a fool of. Well, in what we are about to discuss, it is not about being scammed for a few thousands rands. O No! The losses in this case is colossal. Its about losing our souls or losing ourselves and the sad part about this is that we will only come to realise that we were duped when its too late, at the time of our death. And then our souls will have to live with this thought forever; we were fooled for our entire earthly existence and robbed of attaining the kernel of life – this is hell enough.
So we seriously need to wake up and take heed.
There are more than four thousand religions in the world and in Islam alone there will be seventy four sects. It’s obvious, there can only be one absolutely right way. The others will be based on truths but also mixed with falsehood. So there are billions of people over time that have been misled into following the wrong way. Are we going to be one of them too?
To cap it all, the modern, western way has deviously indoctrinated most people, including Muslims, into following a materialistic, selfish lifestyle which is made out to be sophisticated, advanced and really ‘cool’ while it paints a very dark, gloomy picture of religion to be backward, outdated, superstitious and even opressive. It labels religion as something that takes away the freedom of the people. So we are ending up with some really so called ‘modern’, or ‘liberal’ Muslims who follow the western way of dress and thinking and do just the basics when it comes to religion.
On the other extreme: The five daily prayers, dressing up Islamically, reading the Holy Quraan; these are all excellent practices. What is more important is that we must do these things with good intention and these practices must make us better people on the inside. Most people today, however, because they pray, they think that they are pious and that they are superior and they have a very low opinion of other Muslims and non Muslims. This is wrong and harming us in the worst way, pride. Then these people feel that they have the right to pick faults with the way other Muslims practice the religion. To teach is good but to pick faults so as to mock and belittle others is wrong.
“…. satan had made their deeds seem fair to them.”
Al Quraan 6:43
So if we do not wake up, it’s heads we lose, tails we lose!
The world in recent times is ruled by the west and they have elaborate mechanisms in place to influence people. They control the media and they can change the way people think and they can cause a change of government in a far off country and even change religions. Scary, very scary! We think we are in control of the way we think and behave, but alas, we’re not.
Surprisingly, the solution to not being duped is simple. We need to understand that there are only two paths to life‐ right or wrong. Wrong is what ‘shaitaan’ is dishing out and he is entirely cunning and we have absolutely no chance of getting away from him if we rely on ourselves.
“O Children of Adam! do not let satan put you in trouble (in the same way) as he turned your parent’s out of the garden, stripping them of their raiment (of innocence) with the result that their shortcomings were made manifest to them both. Verily, he (- satan) sees you, he and his tribe, in such a way as you see them not. Verily, We have made satans friends of those who do not believe.”
Al Quraan 7:27
So its not the west that is the problem but it is actually shaitaan who is pulling their strings and deceiving us. He is the master of deception and he pits people against each other.
“And certainly, I (satan) will lead them astray and assuredly I will arouse vain desires in them,…”
Al Quraan 4:119
The only way to beat satan is to trust in Allah SWT for guidance and to seek Allah’s SWT protection against satan. This is what a Muslim’s prayer is all about, Surah Al Fatiha. Let’s not have pride and think well of ourselves but instead, let’s always be humble and always seeking our Lord’s guidance, protection and forgiveness.
