Solutions for Alcohol, rape, Hiv, gambling, inequity in society, crime….
With the name of Allah, most Bountiful ever Merciful
Alcohol: World Health Organisation’s statistics have shown that there are 1.6 million people dying of alcohol related accidents each year. Millions of people are handicapped each year and millions of innocent family members of alcoholics are suffering physiologically. Alcohol abuse is the root cause of child abuse and wife battering. The Prophet (SAW) solution to this problem is to ban not just alcohol only but all drug completely. Statistics show that Muslim countries have the lowest alcohol problems.
HIV Aids: Millions of people are dying each year because of HIV/AIDS. They contact this disease because of their promiscuous, sexual behavior. The Prophet (SAW)’s solution to this problem was that adultery be made an offense and there be, no pre-marital sex etc., The rate of HIV infections in the Muslim community is low.
Rape: The statistics are startling. Although the west boasts of freedom for women, thousands of women are raped each year. The women in the time of the Prophet (SAW) were treated with dignity and not as sex objects as they are treated today. He asked people to dress up modestly and he did not allow the free intermingling of the sexes. The women of today dress more like sex slaves than respectable, dignified people and they go out with men they sometimes hardly know. This is all enticing rape and reducing the dignity of women.
Gambling: Gambling is addictive. Some people are so addicted that they loose their homes because of gambling. The Prophets (SAW) solution was to ban this totally. Even the Lotto is gambling.
Materialism: This leads to greed, jealousy, hatred and exploitation. It creates an imbalance in society. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer until there is a revolution or a forced redistribution. The Prophet (SAW) taught love, sharing and caring. He himself led by example and he spent most of his wealth on charity while he himself lived at the brink of poverty. He made the poor tax compulsory.
Crime: The Prophet (SAW) enforced laws that punished offenders in public. Crime in Muslim countries are very low.
Similarly there are many other problems facing humanity today and the solutions for them can be found by studying the life of the Prophet (SAW). As Muslims, we are supposed to be leaders because we have all this knowledge at our disposal. Instead, we choose to follow the western way of living.
