Meelad Un Nabi

Meelad Un Nabi is the celebrating or commemorating the birth of Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

With the name of Allah most Beneficient ever Merciful

In recent times, the past 60 years, groups have arisen in the Muslim community that have criticised this events and deviously created doubts and divisions in the Muslim community with regards to Meelad un Nabi. They say it’s “bidath’ (innovation).

This is an article to prove that Meelad Un Nabi is actually a very important part of Islam. Insha-Allah.

So, we all celebrate “Eid ul Adha” and no one has any issues with this. It is a part of Islam and everyone celebrates it.

Consider: what is this celebration all about?

This “Eid ul Adha” is actually a celebration in order to remember Hazrath Ebrahim (AS) and Hazrath Ishmael (AS).

In the 38th sura we come across many verses which instructs us to commemorate the Prophets, examples: verse 41 “commemorate our · servant Job….” And verse 45: “Commemorate our servants Abraham and Ismail…” and verse 48 “commemorate Ishmail, Elisha and Zul Kifil ….”. These are direct commands of Allah Subhanatallah and it becomes incumbent on Muslims to celebrate and remember the Prophets.

Now the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is the greatest of all prophets, the final Prophet and he has done the most for us. Should we not then be commemorating our Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ on a far grander scale than the way we celebrate Eid ul Adha?

This is more than ample proof that we should be celebrating our Holy Prophet ﷺ. Therefore we should have absolutely no doubt whatsoever when it comes to celebrating the Meelad of our Holy Prophet ﷺ.

Having doubts is a disease which erodes away our emaan/ faith and we must not entertain these doubts.

I want to quote two very special verses that direct us to celebrate the Holy Prophet ﷺ (Meelad Un Nabi). The first one is from sura Yunus verse 58 “In the bounty of Allah and His Mercy, in that let them rejoice, that is better than the wealth they accumulate.”

Allah Subhanatallah’s greatest Mercy & Blessing is our Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and this is mentioned in verse 107 of the 21st sura of the Holy Quran. “And We have sent thee not, (0 Muhammad Salallahu Alayhe wasallam) but as a mercy for all creatures.”

Peace and blessings be upon Muhammad Sallallahu Allayhi Wasallam.
