The KZN Juloos Meelad un Nabi, an event that strives towards unity and building an Ummah. (community)
With the name of Allah most Beneficient ever Merciful
While creating an awareness of our Holy Prophet Muhammad Salallahu Alayhe Wasallam and his teachings, the KZN Juloos Meelad un Nabi also practically builds on this important teaching of his, building an Ummah.
In our times (the 2000’s), social structures are falling apart, families are getting smaller, or people are choosing to live alone, divorce is on the increase, mosques are being built next to one another and so forth. Basically, no one wants to do things together or we just cannot work together.
Under such circumstances the Anjuman e Waris e Mohammedi strives to bring people together in activities such as the AWM Brigade and the KZN Juloos Meelad un Nabi.
Unlike the meelad’s in our mosques and homes, the KZN Juloos Meelad un Nabi is a broader public event with people from different backgrounds and different suburbs, all taking part together.
The meelad’s in our mosques on the 12th of Rabbiuwal Awwal generally have smaller crowds spread over many mosques. The KZN Juloos meelad un Nabi is a single mass event.
Alhamdulillah, at present there are more than than 30 different organisations taking part in this event.
The more people that attend this event the greater the impact it will have in society.
As an example: If ten people are protesting then it would not bother the government or employer too much but if ten thousand people are protesting then everyone would take them far more seriously.
It is therefore important that everyone makes the time to join the procession to create awareness about the Holy Prophet Muhammad Salallahu Alayhe Wasallam and his excellent teachings. It’s about promoting religion in a time when religion is made to look outdated.
This event was not started off by just any ordinary person. It was started off by a Grand Sufie Master ie. our founder, Hazrath Poona Wale Shah Saib (RA). This is important because such people are in tune with what Allah Subhanatallah wants and they do things out of sincerity.
Already this event has had a great impact on Muslims in Durban and South Africa. It is only recently that we are beginning to realise the importance of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Meelad un Nabi.
Although the juloos is coordinated under the banner of the Anjuman-e-Waris-e- Mohammedi, it is actually a communal event and belongs to our community at large. We in no way mark the event by reading a particular ‘shijra’ or reciting praises (‘manqabaths’) of our founder etc.
Everything is about the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Apart from this, people from different race groups, different silsilas etc put in the effort and finances to make the event a success. There are no bosses or people to look up to. All executive members of the Anjuman- e-Waris-e-Mohammedi are simple people that do not sit on stage and these members join everyone else to clean up and pick up the litter after the event. Everyone is important and we all make the event a success together. This is the kind of attitude that brings about unity and not divisions.
Peace and blessings be upon Muhammad Sallallahu Allayhi Wasallam.
