The Trials Of Life

The Trials Of Life

Life, is not by chance or without purpose.

“We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, but for just ends.” Al Quraan 15:85.

Every moment of our life is precise and designed to offer us new opportunities towards reaching the goal that Allah SWT wants us to achieve. Every little choice we make, every little thing we think about is like pushing a button that’s going to elicit a specific response.

There is always two options, which one will we take.

If we choose the wrong one, we will go into a series of steps or a circle to come back to the same buttons. An expensive waste of time. It’s like failing an exam and having to repeat the year. If we continue making the same mistake, it would be like being stuck in grade one forever.

Look at it this way: until we do not learn the sound of ‘A’, we will never be able to read the word ‘apple’ and never go on to read other words. Dead end.

So assuming we take the worldly path and we make huge strides in it, much like a famous wealthy man of today has, we would most likely be faced with a similar issue that he is currently facing. His daughter is a transgender and they are publically at odds with each other. And yes, he is a slave to his wealth. Despite being one of the richest men, he is still working.

Bottom line, he has lots and lots of money but he is not happy at all. He is stuck in the loop. While his wealth grows, he as a human, remains stagnant. His character does not grow in any way.

Now, consider our Holy Prophet Muhammad Salallahu Alayhe Wasallam. He worked and he got married, but he also took time off in the Cave of Hira to reflect over life and pursue spirituality. And then he spent years teaching others. Yes he went through some very difficult patches like being stoned at Taif, but in his farewell Hajj he was accompanied by thousands of people who loved him and were devoted to him.

Bottom line, he had little or no wealth but he made tremendous progress in not only developing himself but helping others grow their characters as well and attaining peace and contentment.

From these two examples, we can easily see that Allah SWT should be the goal of life. This will grant us success. This is what our Holy Prophet Muhammad SAW strived towards.

Religion is not just about prayer. More importantly, it is about developing our spirituality. Just as we spend time and energy to build our bodies and grow our minds, so too must we make an effort to grow our spirituality.

This process results in self realisation and growing our ‘emaan’ which is all about getting to know Allah SWT better and to fulfill the purpose He created us for.

End.
