The Gateway to Allah.
The entire religion of Islam is based on what was revealed to the Holy Prophet Muhammed Sallal lahu Alayhe Wasallam.
With the name of Allah, Most Beneficient, Ever Merciful
This revelation, (The Holy Qur’aan) did not miraculously fall from the sky and no one can claim that they saw Allah SWT revealing the Qur’aan to the Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhe Wasallam.
In other words, The Holy Qur’aan was revealed to the Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallal lahu Alayhe Wasallam with no human witnesses. The entire Islamic faith is therefore based on the claim (Shahadath\witness) of Muhammed Sallallahu Alayhe Wasallam—alone.
This fact makes him a part of the hub or the focal point of the Islamic faith. It makes him part of the foundation and the very basis upon which Islam is built.
It is because of this fact that Muhmammed Sallal lahu Alayhe Wasallam is regarded as the only link to Allah SWT, which therefore makes him the most important aspect of Islam, with Allah SWT.
His name therefore appears in the very first article of faith and there is no seperation between Allah SWT and him. There is no ‘and’ in the ‘Kalima Shada‘
The reason for us doing this article is that there are movements that try to divorce Islam from the Holy Prophet Muhammed Sallallahu Alayhe Wasallam by stressing Allah and the Holy Quraan only. They try to insinuate that loving the Prophet is ‘Shirk’ (associating partners with Allah)
These sort of statements work on people’s subconsciousness to create a barrier for us to grow to love the Holy Prophet Muhammed Salallahu Alayhe wasallam for the SAKE OF ALLAH.
Loving the Holy Prophet Muhammad Salallahu Alayhe Wasallam is a critical part of ‘Emaan’ or Faith and we have to be constantly on guard to ensure that our subconscious is not affected by these malicious statements.
“The Prophet (ﷺ) said “None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children and all mankind.” Sahih Bukahari
Moving on….
Another reason why the Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallal lahu Alayhe Wasallam is such an important part of Islam is that he is the embodiment of the holy Qur’aan, or the Qur’aan manifest, or the living Qur’aan, or the words of Allah SWT translated into action.
The Qur’aan tells us to pray,, to perform the Hajj and to perfect our characters but it does not tell us how to do it. It is the Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallal lahu Alayhe Wasallam who has not only given us these details but has also practically demonstrated it to his followers.
Without the input of the Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallal lahu Alayhe Wasallam, Islam based on the Holy Quraan only, would be insufficient and incomplete.
Alao… When we study Islamic history then we would realize that people accepted Islam because of the character and personality of the Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallal lahu Alayhe wasallam. They did not become Muslims because they understood the Holy Qur’aan or because they realized that Islam has such fine teachings etc.
There was no formal Qur’aan as we know it and there was no teachings initially. There was only the Messenger of Allah Sallal lahu Alayhe Wasallam. People accepted Islam because of the way he behaved and these Companions, (may Allah be pleased with them) are the very best of all Muslims.
Thus the initial spread of Islam can be totally attributed to the extraordinary personality, character and actions of the Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallal lahu Alayhe Wasallam.
The service of the Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallal lahu Alayhe Wasallam to his followers and humanity in general is not complete. He is yet to do so much more for us, his ‘ummah’. Allah SWT has promised to raise the Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhe Wasallam to the station of Maquame Mahmood.
“…soon will thy Lord raise thee to Maquame Mahmood (the station of praise and glory)” al Quraan 17:79
Ibne Omar (RA) relates that this is the station of praise and glory that the Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallal lahu Alayhe Wasallam will have on the Day of Judgment, every nation will fall on its knees to their Prophet, but intercession will be granted to the Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallal lahu Alayhe Wasallam first.
On that Day, the entire human race would look towards the Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallal lahu Alayhe Wasallam and when he would ask Allah to forgive us, then we would be forgiven. Sahih Bukaharie Vol 6 Hadis 242.
We must never have pride and think that we would be forgiven because of our good deeds because all our good deeds can be worthless if our intentions are wrong. So it is better to have hope on Allah’s Mercy and Allah’s greatest mercy is the Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhe Wasallam.
“And We have sent thee not, (O Muhammed Salallahu Alayhe Wasallam) but as a mercy for all creatures.” 21:107
The Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallal lahu Alayhe wasallam is also the owner of Al Kausar.
“…to you (O Muhammed Salal lahu Alayhe Wasallam) have we granted al Kausar.” 108:1
What is Al Kausar? On Judgment Day, it would be very hot, and people would feel very thirsty. The Prophet Sallal lahu Alayhe Wasallam will give his followers a drink from his well of Al Kausar. When a person drinks from this well he would never feel thirsty again.
Throughout the Qur’aan we come across verses that show that the way to Allah is through the Prophet Sallal lahu Alayhe Wasallam. examples:
“He who obeys the Messenger (Salal lahu Alayhe Wasallam) obeys Allah” 4:80.
“Verily those that pledge their allegiance to you (O Prophet Muhammed Salal lahu Alayhe Wasallam), pledge their allegiance in truth to Allah. The Hand of Allah is over their hand…” 48:10
“Say (O Muhammed Salal lahu Alayhe Wasallam) “If you do love Allah then follow me: Allah will love you and forgive you your sins.” 3:31
“..so it is those who believe in him (Muhammed Salal lahu Alayhe Wasallam), honour him, help him and follow the light that is sent down with him. it is they who will prosper.” 7:157
“If those sinners come to you O Prophet and ask forgiveness of Allah, and if the Holy Prophet also seeks forgiveness for them, they will find Allah as the acceptor of repentance and bestower of mercy.” 4:64
The way Allah Subhanatallah asks us to send Salawaath on the the Holy Prophet Muhammad Salallahu Alayhe Wasallam is unique and extraordinary. From the Holy Qur’aan surah 33: verse 56
“Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet: O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him, and salute him with all respect.”
After considering all these facts it is inevitable for us to conclude that the only way to Allah is through the Holy Prophet Muhammad Sallal lahu Alayhe Wasallam.
Loving the Holy Prophet Muhammad Salallahu Alayhe Wasallam means that we have to be passionate about him.
Join the KZN Juloos Meelad un Nabi which takes place on the first Sunday after the 12th of Rabbiual Awwal. It’s all about ‘Salawaath’ and instilling love in our hearts and creating awareness of Muhammed Sallallahu Alayhe Wasallam and his fine teachings. Insha-Allah.
